Mission: POW-MIA’s Veterans Week in Virginia Beach began with the Moving Wall and our displays being set up
on November 7. Our member mee琀椀ng was held November 8 to Nov 11th. We had mee琀椀ngs, hosted luncheons,
visits to various museums and monuments and concluded with the Veterans Day Parade held this year commemora琀椀ng the end of the Vietnam War and honoring our Na琀椀on’s POWs and MIAs. We were honored to have Col
Mike Brazelton (returned POW) as our Co-Marshal and DPAA Director Kelly McKeague serve as the Grand
Marshal. We were advised that our Veterans Week was the last event of the Vietnam War Commemora琀椀on.
On November 10, 2025, MIA family members, military personnel and community supporters
joined Mission: POW-MIA, the Virginia Patriot Guard and the Associa琀椀on of Naval Avia琀椀on for the
rededica琀椀on and ceremonial religh琀椀ng of the Flame of Hope Memorial. The Flame was relit by
Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, DPAA Director Kelly McKeague, returned POW Col. Mike Brazelton,
Tom Scheurich, son of USN Captain Thomas Scheurich (accounted-for) and Jeanie Hu昀昀man, MIA
daughter of CDR Edward Jacobs 25 Aug 1967 (unaccounted-for). Jeanie also created the Flame of
Hope logo.
